Class Portal
After reading Richardson, I noticed that I really liked the class portal idea. It is similar to Blackboard in that assignments can be posted for a particular class. As I said in my previous post, I already manage a class website but homework and other assignments on it. The problem is that my parents don't look at it. I am constantly being asked for extra copies, even though I remind them in every newsletter to check out my website. Does anyone think starting a class portal blog would be benefitial? I feel like it would be difficult to get the parents excited.

I have the same experiences with my own class webpage. I am not sure ANYONE views my webpage! However, many of my families do not have computers in the home. Class portal sounds very similar to what you are doing now (posting homework on webpage). Perhaps it is just the age of our students that makes embracing blogging more difficult for us....
ReplyDeleteWe the same problem with our blackboard site. We put in a weekly newsletter and maybe 1 or 2 parents look at it out of 88. It seems like a waste of time for us. I'm not sure the blog would make it any better.
